For the non‐thesis Master’s degree option, students must complete 30 graduate level credit hours. EEL 6065, EEL 6910, EEL 6933, and EEL 6940 cannot be used to fulfill any credit requirements for the Master’s degree. At least 21 hours of ECE coursework must be taken. This course requirement can only be fulfilled by completing ECE coursework at the University of Florida. EEL 5905, 6905, and EGN 5949 are not counted for this requirement. CDA 5636 (Embedded Systems) can be used toward this course requirement by exception. No credit for EEL 6971 is allowed.
A doctoral degree is the highest level of graduate degree. It is achieved by a little more than one percent of the population, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. As is the case with all higher education, the cost of a doctoral degree will vary by school, but can be a significant investment. Most students complete doctoral degree programs within ten years, although some finish in as little as four years.

Masters: 2 years for completion. Usually serves as additional qualification for those seeking a differential on the job market (and maybe later a PhD), or for those who want to pursue a PhD. Most doctoral programs in Brazil require a master's degree (stricto sensu), meaning that a lato sensu degree is usually insufficient to start a doctoral program.

Master of Science in Special Education, concentration/endorsement in Gifted, Talented and Creative (K-6, 6-12, PreK-12). Research shows teachers with training in gifted education are more likely to encourage students' higher-level thinking, allow for greater expression, consider individual student strengths and weaknesses, and provide a variety of learning experiences to challenge students. Offered online.
In the UK, postgraduate master's degrees typically take one to two years full-time or two to four years part-time.[64] Master's degrees may classified as either "research" or "taught", with taught degrees (those where research makes up less than half of the volume of work) being further subdivided into "specialist or advanced study" or "professional or practice". Taught degrees (of both forms) typically take a full calendar year (180 UK credits, compared to 120 for an academic year), while research degrees are not typically credit rated but may take up to two years to complete. An MPhil normally takes two calendar years (360 credits). An integrated master's degree (which is always a taught degree) combines a bachelor's degree course with an additional year of study (120 credits) at master's level for a four (England, Wales and Northern Ireland) or five (Scotland) academic year total period.[56][65][66]

The Weldon School's PhD options (post-BS or post-MS) in biomedical engineering are highly interdisciplinary in nature and involve faculty and laboratories at Purdue's College of Engineering, College of Science, School of Engineering and Technology, and the School of Veterinary Medicine on the West Lafayette campus as well as the Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis. The combined faculty, staff, and facilities of the two campuses provide tremendous resources for our students. Doctoral program students work on translating discoveries into effective medical products, gaining a unique experience in converting theory to reality. These programs span modern biomedical engineering and build on a deep history of research at the Weldon School that has had significant industrial and clinical impact. Applicants with a master’s degree have the opportunity to transfer course work from that degree toward the PhD requirements, reducing the time to degree completion.

The field of robotics has grown significantly in the last decade and continues to do so at an accelerating rate.  Robots were, until very recently, in the hands of a few specialists, but are increasingly moving into the mainstream.  Household robots, prosthetic limbs, robotic cars, assistive care robots, and search and rescue robots are all becoming a part of our lives. Robots for exploration...

The program combines individual depth of experience and competence in a particular chosen major specialty, and a strong background in the basic and engineering sciences, with laboratory and design experience. It strives to develop professional independence, creativity, leadership, and the capacity for continuing professional and intellectual growth, and the graduate program aims to provide for students a depth of competence and experience in their major field, sufficient strength in the basic sciences to allow them to continue self-education after their formal training has been completed, and the motivation and training to keep them in the forefront of their field through a long and productive career. Students are encouraged to explore work in interdisciplinary areas both within and outside the division, and to gain experience in teaching.

Additionally, doctoral students who have advanced to candidacy but not filed a dissertation ("ABD," for "all but dissertation") often receive master's degrees and an additional master's called a Master of Philosophy, or M.Phil., or C.Phil. "Candidate in Philosophy" degree. The master's component of a doctorate program often requires one or two years, and some students, because doctoral programs are sometimes better-funded, apply for doctoral programs while only intending to earn a master's degree. This is generally not acceptable and, if a student's advisor learns of the student's plans, can result in early termination.
The MA degree in History is designed for history students with a wide variety of interests, including those intending to continue on for Ph.D. work in history; secondary education teachers interested in graduate work concentrating on history, political science, or geography; and those interested in a career in public history. Other students also may find the program suitable, depending on their individual aspirations.

Ph.D. entrance requirements in the higher ranked schools typically require a student to have postgraduate research honours or a master's degree by research, or a master's with a significant research component. Entry requirements depend on the subject studied and the individual university. The minimum duration of a Ph.D. programme is two years, but completing within this time span is unusual, with Ph.D.s usually taking an average of three to four years to be completed.
